The Recycling Foundation was formed to promote and
fund recycling education and research in Washington State. Formed in 2000 in response to dropping
recycling rates, the Foundation relies on corporate and private donations to further its mission. The
Foundation encourages innovative education and research programs and funds these through its grant
program.

New Board Members
Kim ("KC") Traver has overseen many environmental programs throughout his 22-year Air Force career as an engineering and support officer. Since relocating to Spokane in 2002, KC has served on the Solid Waste Advisory Committee for Spokane County. One of his responsibilities is updating and revising the Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan. KC continually looks for opportunities to further reduce the cost of solid waste management by finding markets and uses for the more than 88,000 tons of ash that are produced annually as a by-product of the region's waste-to-energy plant. We are pleased to have him on the board!
Diana Perey recently retired from her position as Director of Transportation Services at the University of Washington where she was responsible for providing essential services for four organizations: Motor Pool, Parking Services, Property and Transport Services, and the Transportation System. As Director, Diana was responsible for solid and bio medical waste disposal, recycling and surplus property sales and disposal. She is an expert in the recycling and reuse field! In January, Diana joined TRF’s Board of Directors. Welcome, Diana!
